Common Read 2010
The High Plains Library District (HPLD) is pleased to announce The Art of Racing
in the Rain by Garth Stein as the selection for the 4th annual Common Read.
The book was selected by community members and staff for its heart-tugging,
raw emotion. Its powerful themes of hope and love despite adversity will
captivate and entertain all.
The Common Read is a community-wide reading project designed to address the
national decline in reading. It provides communities, schools and citizens with
the opportunity to read, discuss and celebrate a single book.
The HPLD and its community partners are excited to host a variety of programs that celebrate The
Art of Racing in the Rain. Copies of the book will be available for checkout or
exchange at all HPLD
libraries, the Dacono Public Library and Windsor Severance
Library.
The Common Read, which runs October 1-31, will kick-off on October 2 with the
Barks N Books dog walk (a fundraiser for the HPLD Foundation) in Greeley and
Erie. Throughout the duration of the Common Read we encourage you to attend and
enjoy any of our free storytimes, programs, movie nights and book discussions.
Please help promote the joy of reading by reading this book and discussing it
with coworkers, family, friends and neighbors. For more information visit
www.MyLibrary.us or call 1-888-861-7323.
The HPLD would like to recognize and thank this year's sponsors:
