Post Election Reflection
With the 2010 election behind us, staff at the High Plains
Library District is excited to continue moving planned
projects and services forward. HPLD is mindful of the
critical conversations that were brought out due to the
three proposed anti-tax ballot initiatives. The feedback we
received from our patrons across the District about the "2
most important services" is helping us prepare for 2011 and
beyond. We heard from more than 300 people and received a
variety of responses from programs to online access to
computer training. The clear priorities though are
"materials/books" and "computers/technology" with
"movies/DVDs" a close third.
The responses we received make a clear statement that our
patrons value the materials, technology and entertainment
resources that HPLD makes available and see the library as
an important asset to our community. We hope that through
our services you will continue to see the library as a
cornerstone of an engaged and civically minded community.
HPLD will always be committed to providing information,
inspiration and entertainment to its patrons. This however,
might look a little different as we adjust to patron needs,
decreasing revenues and increasing demand on the identified
priorities. We welcome your comments and
feedback and look forward to seeing you in the library.
As we come to the end of another year we thank you for your
support and for recognizing that libraries play an important
role in building thriving communities.
